Ken Bond was born in Hamilton, Victoria on 1st
April 1926 , and joined Ansett Airways in Hamilton, on 2nd
April 1940. Ken then transferred to Essendon where he had a number of
roles in the Engineering Division of Ansett Airways (as it was then
known).
By 1960, Ken had become Ansett A.N.A�s Aircraft
Overhaul Supervisor and after a series of further promotions, became
Program Director in 1986.
He�s officially retired from Ansett Australia on 1st
April 1991, on his 65th birthday, but continued to work for
Ansett for several more years, under a contract arrangement.
Ken was awarded the Order of Australia Medal, for his
services to Australian aviation, in the Queens Birthday Honours, in June
1991.
By the time he severed his links with the airline in
September 1994, he had worked for Ansett for 54 years.
He returned to Hamilton on Australia Day 1995, for a
well earned retirement, but within weeks he was inducted into the local
Rotary Club, and was its President by 1998.
Today Ken is the Chairman of the Sir Reginald Ansett
Transport Museum.
